Lady Monsters Defeat Cochise After Weather Delay

The Eastern Arizona College women's soccer team battled through rain, lightning, and a tough opponent to earn a 2-0 victory over Cochise College on Saturday, Sept. 6.

The Lady Monsters got about 30 minutes of play in before rain and lightning forced a 45-minute delay. When the teams returned to the field, EAC came out with renewed energy against the Apaches.

Lorraine Oliveira opened the scoring with a stunning free kick, curling the ball into the top right corner just out of the goalkeeper's reach. In the second half, the Lady Monsters maintained control and doubled their lead when Brynn Kelly found the back of the net off an assist from Oliveira.

With the win, EAC carries momentum into its next matchup. The Lady Monsters will hit the road Saturday, Sept. 13, to face Arizona Western in Yuma. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
