Dagons, Enriquez, Romero‑Ah Sam Named to NJCAA All‑Tournament Team
LAKE CHARLES, La. — Eastern Arizona College placed three guards on the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball All‑Tournament Team after a dominant four‑game run that ended with the program's first national championship. Sophomores Eanae Dagons, Esmeralda Enriquez and Danaeja Romero‑ Ah Sam were all honored for their performance and impact throughout the national tournament.
Dagons, a 5‑foot‑4 guard from Phoenix and Desert Vista High School, delivered one of the most complete stretches of her season. She scored 49 points across the four games and shot 40.8 percent from the field while adding 34.6 percent shooting from three. She also provided strong two‑way production with 24 rebounds, 14 assists and 12 steals. Dagons reached double figures in three of the four contests and helped set the tone defensively in each matchup.
Enriquez, a 5‑foot‑8 guard from Yakima, Washington and Davis High School, earned her All‑Tournament selection alongside Tournament MVP honors. She led Eastern Arizona in scoring throughout the championship run with 72 total points and averaged 18 points per game. She shot 37.3 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from three and 80 percent at the free throw line. Enriquez added 16 rebounds, seven steals and three assists while playing heavy minutes in all four games.
Romero‑Ah Sam, a 5‑foot‑8 guard from Eugene, Oregon and Springfield High School, also earned All‑Tournament Team recognition after providing a steady offensive presence on the perimeter throughout the championship run. She scored 58 points over the four games while shooting 40 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from three‑point range. Romero‑Ah Sam reached double figures in all four contests, including a 19‑point performance in the opening‑round win over Southwestern Illinois. She added 12 rebounds, four assists and three steals while playing consistent minutes and stretching the floor against each opponent.
All three players were key in Eastern Arizona's wins over Southwestern Illinois, College of Southern Idaho, Trinity Valley and New Mexico Junior College. Their performances helped the Gila Monsters close out a 33‑2 season and secure the first national title in program history.
Dagons, Enriquez and Romero‑Ah Sam now join a select group of players who have earned national recognition while leading Eastern Arizona to the top of the NJCAA.
