MONSTERS MAKE HISTORY: EAC WBB ADVANCES TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
LAKE CHARLES, La.– Eastern Arizona College women's basketball has reached a milestone moment in program history, earning its first ever trip to the NJCAA Division I National Championship with a decisive 56 to 29 victory over Trinity Valley in the Final Four. The Monsters controlled the semifinal matchup from start to finish, showcasing the defensive toughness and depth that have defined their postseason run.
EAC opened the game by setting a defensive tone that never wavered. Trinity Valley was held to only two points in the first quarter and struggled to find rhythm for the remainder of the game. The Monsters forced 20 turnovers, contested shots across the perimeter and the paint, and limited the Cardinals to only 29 points overall. Eastern Arizona's rebounding effort further separated the two teams. Strong positioning and relentless pursuit of the ball produced a 53 to 33 advantage on the boards, including 20 offensive rebounds that led to 23 second chance points.
Esmeralda Enriquez led the scoring with 18 points and provided timely perimeter shooting that continually lifted the Monsters' pace. Eanae Dagons added 12 points and attacked gaps in the defense with confidence. Inside, Navae Guidry recorded a double double with 10 points and 14 rebounds and anchored the team's physical presence around the rim. Trinity Alex Mayer was also dominant on the glass, collecting 10 rebounds and helping the Monsters control the interior.
EAC's depth made a significant impact as the bench outscored Trinity Valley's reserves 24 to 6. Every rotation group contributed to the defensive pressure and rebounding edge that wore down the Cardinals over the course of four quarters. By the time the Monsters surged for 21 points in the final period, the outcome was firmly in hand and the celebration had already begun inside the EAC huddle.
To support the team from home, Monster fans are invited to a campus watch party inside the Monster Pit in the Student Activity Center. Students, staff, families, alumni, and community members are encouraged to gather and help create a championship atmosphere on campus as EAC competes on the biggest stage in program history.
The Monsters have one game left in their remarkable journey and now stand within reach of the program's first national championship.
