Lady Monsters Close Preseason, Eye Home Opener

The Eastern Arizona College women's volleyball team closed out its preseason tournaments this past weekend in Odessa, Texas, posting two wins before falling in a pair of competitive matches to end play.

The Lady Monsters opened with a 3-0 sweep over Navarro College, led by Addison Hinckley's 10 kills. Hannah Pushckor added 4 blocks, while Cale Torgerson chipped in 9 digs. EAC kept rolling in their second match with a 3-1 victory over New Mexico Junior College. Hinckley recorded 13 kills and 15 digs, Riley Pitney tallied 4 blocks, Kambria Maloy contributed 16 digs and 2 service aces, and Torgerson finished with 12 kills and 15 digs.

Day two proved tougher, as EAC dropped a 0-3 match to Frank Phillips and fell in a five-set battle with Odessa College, 2-3. Torgerson finished with 8 kills and 7 digs, Nayomi Toilolo added 15 digs, and Hinckley posted 7 kills and 11 digs.

The Lady Monsters now turn their focus to home court action. EAC hosts Phoenix College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, before opening conference play against Yavapai on Sept. 12 and 13.
