Gila Monsters Split Road Series at Central Arizona

Eastern Arizona College baseball completed a three-game road series at Central Arizona College last weekend, picking up a conference win while competing closely throughout the series.

The Gila Monsters dropped the opener 6–14 after Central Arizona jumped out to an early lead. Eastern Arizona worked to respond with offense from Tristan Fielder and Maverick Delgado, who drove in runs as EAC tried to close the gap. Gustavo Gomez added pressure on the bases, but Central Arizona was able to pull away late to secure the win.

Eastern Arizona bounced back in the middle game with a 6–4 victory, turning in its most complete performance of the series. Fielder once again set the tone offensively, while Reece Van Devander and Edouard Lamontagne delivered timely hits to bring runs home. Traigh Perry provided a key swing to extend the lead, and the Gila Monsters held firm defensively behind Grant McMeekin and Caleb Rosado to even the series.

The finale was tightly contested, but Central Arizona edged Eastern Arizona 4–8 The Gila Monsters stayed within striking distance early, with Fielder and Delgado accounting for runs and Drew Bufford helping anchor the defense. Central Arizona capitalized in the middle innings, however, and EAC was unable to generate a late rally.

Eastern Arizona now returns home for its next ACCAC series, hosting Arizona Western College. The Gila Monsters will host a doubleheader on Friday, April 10, at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., followed by a single game on Saturday, April 11, at 12:00 p.m.
