Gila Monsters Wrap Up Five-Game Spring Break Stretch, Return Home Monday

THATCHER, Ariz. — Eastern Arizona College baseball closed out a busy spring‑break stretch with five home games, earning a pair of wins on Tuesday before battling through a tough two‑day series against Yavapai College.

The Gila Monsters opened the week with a strong start, sweeping Scottsdale Post Grad Sports in Tuesday's doubleheader. EAC rolled to a 12–2 win in the opener behind a balanced offensive attack that featured 10 hits, including a home run from Reece Van Devander and triples from Ben Simmons and Slade (Bubu) Sarono. Drew Heinze struck out seven over three innings before Tristan Fielder closed out the final two frames.

Game two saw the offense erupt again in an 18–8 victory. Luke Santarius drove in five runs on three hits, while Tristan Fielder added three RBIs and Maverick Delgado scored three times. EAC posted a pair of seven‑run innings to put the game out of reach early.

The Gila Monsters returned to action Friday for a doubleheader against Yavapai. Despite competitive stretches, EAC fell 2–12 in the opener and 8–13 in the second game of the doubleheader. Ben Simmons tallied four hits in Game 2, while Slade (Bubu) Sarono homered and drove in two. Edouard Lamontagne added an RBI on a Sac Fly, and Tristan Fielder and Drew McNear each stole a base.

Gustavo Gomez drove in three runs on two hits, Will Applegate homered and added two RBIs, and Kayne Carlos doubled and plated two. On the mound, Shaveh Sarono delivered 4.2 innings with seven strikeouts before Caleb Rosado finished the final 2.1 innings with five strikeouts of his own.
