After Three Game Series vs Cochise EAC Baseball Looks Forward to Upcoming Game on Tuesday

DOUGLAS, Ariz. — Eastern Arizona College wrapped up a three‑game series at Cochise College over the weekend, showing steady offensive production and several strong individual performances despite coming up short in all three contests. The Gila Monsters continued to generate extra‑base power and found contributions throughout the lineup as they prepare to return home for a midweek doubleheader.

In Friday's opener, Eastern Arizona collected 10 hits and consistently pressured the Apache pitching staff. Will Applegate led the way with a home run and two RBI, while Edouard Lamontagne added a triple and reached base multiple times. Tristan Fielder, Izzy Kahoʻokele Diaz, and Noah Bernal each doubled as the Gila Monsters produced five extra‑base hits. On the mound, Lucas Dykstra delivered one of the most effective outings of the weekend, throwing three scoreless innings with four strikeouts and no hits allowed.

Saturday's first game saw Eastern Arizona strike early with a three‑run first inning. Gunnar Pedersen drove in a run and later scored, and Applegate continued his strong weekend with another home run and three RBI. Lamontagne added a stolen base as the Gila Monsters created opportunities throughout the lineup, though Cochise responded with steady scoring to take the game.

Eastern Arizona closed the series with its highest run total of the weekend, putting up seven runs in Saturday's second game. Darren Daves sparked the offense with a two‑hit, two‑RBI performance and added two stolen bases. Reece Van Devander launched a two‑run home run, and Lamontagne followed with a solo shot of his own. Tristan Fielder and Applegate each drove in runs, while Caleb Rosado provided 4.2 innings of relief with eight strikeouts to keep the Gila Monsters within reach.

Eastern Arizona now turns its attention to a home doubleheader on Tuesday, March 17, hosting Scottsdale Post Grad Sports at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. With the offense trending upward and several players finding their rhythm, the Gila Monsters look to carry their momentum into the return to Thatcher.
