Gila Monsters Drop Three-Game Road Series at Arizona Western

The Eastern Arizona College baseball team fell in all three games of a road series against Arizona Western on March 6–7.

The Gila Monsters were held scoreless in the first two contests, dropping the opener 11-0 before falling 2-0 in the second game.

In Game 1, Eastern Arizona managed just two hits at the plate. Izzy Kaho'okele Diaz and Drew Bufford each recorded doubles for the Gila Monsters. Caleb Rosado started on the mound and struck out five over 3.2 innings of work before Jimmy Boulanger came in for relief.

Eastern Arizona again recorded two hits in Game 2, both coming from Darren Daves, who finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Despite keeping the game close, the Gila Monsters were unable to push across a run as Arizona Western claimed the 2-0 victory.

The Gila Monsters battled back in the series finale but came up just short in a 3-2 loss.

Eastern Arizona took the lead when Tristan Fielder launched a two-run home run to account for both runs in the game. Drew Bufford added two hits in the contest while Diaz recorded another hit for the Gila Monsters.

Shaveh Sarono delivered a strong performance on the mound in the finale, striking out 10 batters over five innings while allowing just one run. Grant McMeekin pitched three innings in relief, allowing two runs.

Eastern Arizona will return to action March 13–14 when the Gila Monsters travel to Cochise for their next conference series.
