Eastern Arizona Sweeps Community Christian in Three-Game Home Series
The Eastern Arizona College baseball team delivered a complete weekend performance, sweeping a three-game series against Community Christian College on February 13–14 at home.
Feb. 13 – Game 1 (W, 4–0)
Eastern Arizona set the tone early behind a dominant outing from starting pitcher Caleb Rosado. Rosado tossed a complete-game shutout, working 7.0 innings while allowing just 5 hits with no runs, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts.
At the plate, the Gila Monsters received doubles from Drew Bufford and Izzy Kaho'okele Diaz. Bufford drove in two runs, while Gunnar Pedersen and Kayne Carlos each added an RBI. Pedersen also swiped a base. EAC played strong defense throughout, turning multiple double plays in support of the shutout.
Feb. 13 – Game 2 (W, 12–2, 5 innings)
The offense erupted in Game 2, producing 12 runs in a shortened five-inning win.
Ben Simmons finished with three hits to lead the attack, while Gunnar Pedersen crossed the plate twice and Edouard Lamontagne added two RBI.
Extra-base hits included doubles from Simmons, Carlos, and Lamontagne, along with a triple by Traigh Perry. RBI came from Pedersen (2), Tristan Fielder, Simmons, Carlos, Perry (2), Noah Bernal, Will Applegate, and Lamontagne (2). Darren Daves added a stolen base.
On the mound, Jorge Roman earned the win with 5.0 innings pitched, allowing only 3 hits and collecting 7 strikeouts.
Feb. 14 – Game 3 (W, 10–2)
Eastern Arizona closed out the series with another steady performance, securing a 10–2 victory.
Will Applegate led the way with two hits and three runs scored. R. Van Devander added two RBI as the Gila Monsters completed the sweep.
