Bio

Coach Angelica de Paulo is entering her fourth season as head coach of Eastern Arizona College’s women’s basketball program, having taken the helm in 2022. Prior to her current role, she served as an assistant coach at EAC for two seasons, helping lead the Lady Gila Monsters to an impressive 48–8 record. In 2022, she was honored as the WBCA Two‑Year College Assistant Coach of the Year.

During her tenure as an assistant, De Paulo played a pivotal role in guiding the Lady Monsters to the 2021 Region I Championship and a national tournament appearance. She has mentored numerous student‑athletes, including multiple All‑Americans, who have gone on to continue their playing careers at prestigious NCAA programs such as Baylor and the University of Kansas.

In her first season as head coach (2022–23), De Paulo led Eastern Arizona to a 29–1 overall record and a 21–1 conference mark, earning Region I Coach of the Year honors. The following year (2023–24), she guided the Lady Monsters to the ACCAC Division I Conference Championship, posting a 27–3 conference record and a 30–6 overall finish while advancing to the NJCAA National Final Four. That season, she was named ACCAC Coach of the Year and received the Alberta Lee Cox Sportsmanship Award.

During the 2024–25 season, De Paulo continued to build national momentum, leading Eastern Arizona to a second consecutive Final Four appearance. The Lady Monsters finished the year with a 35–7 overall record, capturing both the Region I and West District Championships, and De Paulo was recognized as West District Coach of the Year. Under her leadership, multiple players advanced to NCAA Division I and II programs, including Arkansas and Florida.

The 2025–26 season marked a historic milestone for both De Paulo and the EAC women’s basketball program. She led the Lady Gila Monsters to a 33–2 overall record, a perfect 15–0 ACCAC record, and the NJCAA Division I National Championship. Eastern Arizona advanced to the program’s third straight Final Four and captured the first national title of De Paulo’s head coaching career. Her leadership during the national tournament earned her NJCAA Coach of the Tournament honors, while her season‑long excellence was recognized with ACCAC Coach of the Year and NJCAA Division I Coach of the Year awards.

A native of São Paulo, Brazil, De Paulo played two seasons at New Mexico Junior College, where she earned NJCAA First Team All‑American honors and was named WJCAC Region 5 Player of the Year, before transferring to Utah State University (NCAA Division I) to complete her playing career.

Coach De Paulo continues to build a program grounded in excellence, accountability, and opportunity, developing student‑athletes who compete at the highest level both on and off the court.
