EAC Men’s & Women’s Basketball Close Regular Season With Road Wins at Arizona Western

Eastern Arizona College capped off its conference slate with a strong showing in Yuma on Saturday, Feb. 28, as both the men's and women's teams defeated Arizona Western College in their final regular-season matchups.


Men's Basketball: EAC 84, AWC 83

In a thriller, Eastern Arizona edged out the Matadors 84–83 to secure its 11th conference win and finish the regular season 11–4 (19–11 overall).

Brad Ballinger led the Monsters with a standout 20-point performance, going 8-of-12 from the field and knocking down four threes. Ryan Hunt anchored the interior with 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Ryder Bush orchestrated the offense masterfully, scoring 14 points and dishing out nine assists.

EAC shot an efficient 34-of-64 from the field while collecting 34 total rebounds and 15 team assists. Strong contributions off the bench came from Kofi Peyton (14 points) and Derek Collins (four points on perfect shooting).

 

With the win, the Monsters earn the right to host the Region I Semifinals on March 5 at 7 p.m. in Thatcher against Cochise College.


Women's Basketball: EAC 71, AWC 44

The Lady Monsters capped a dominant conference season in style, defeating Arizona Western 71–44 to finish as the Undefeated Conference Champions.

 

Esmeralda Enriquez delivered another electric performance, dropping 25 points, grabbing six rebounds, and adding five steals. Trinity Alex-Mayer followed with 11 points and a team-leading four assists, while Stephany Goncalves controlled the glass with seven rebounds and seven points.

EAC's defensive effort was equally impressive, forcing 20 turnovers and holding the Lady Matadors to 44 total points. Eleven players saw the court as the Lady Monsters closed out their conference schedule at the top of the standings.

They now prepare to host the Region I Semifinals on March 7 at 7 p.m. in Thatcher.
