Monsters Collect Wins and Momentum in Weekend Action
Eastern Arizona College athletics had another strong showing over the weekend as the volleyball and soccer programs competed on the road against the College of Southern Nevada (CSN).
Women's Volleyball came away with back-to-back wins over College of Southern Nevada, sweeping both matches to secure a successful weekend.
In Game One, Addison Hinckley led the Monster offense with 14 kills and added 3 service aces, while Hannah Pushckor dominated at the net with 7 blocks. Kambria Maloy anchored the defense, tallying an impressive 30 digs.
In Game Two, Pushckor continued her strong performance with 6 blocks, Maloy added 13 digs, and Hinckley recorded 7 service aces to help seal the second victory.
The Monsters will now look to carry that momentum into their next matchup on Tuesday, October 14, when they travel to Mesa Community College.
On the pitch, Women's Soccer earned a hard-fought 3–2 victory over CSN behind a powerful first-half performance. Brynn Kelly opened scoring in the 11th minute off an assist from Abbi Sanford. After CSN evened the score, Ana Julia Carlessi put EAC back on top in the 23rd minute, assisted by Kayme Smith. Just before halftime, Ana Lucia Quintero extended the lead to 3–1 with help from Carlessi and Kaydence Wardell.
Goalkeeper Larissa Sanchez collected three saves to secure the win as EAC improved its conference standing. The Monsters will return home Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. to host Mohave on John Mickelson Field.
Men's Soccer closed out the weekend with a 1–1 draw against CSN. After falling behind in the 67th minute, Samuel Prado found the equalizer late, scoring in the 89th minute off an assist from Davi Barros. Goalkeeper Bruno Santos finished the match with five saves, helping the Monsters secure the result.
Both soccer teams return home Tuesday for a doubleheader against Mohave—women at 4:30 p.m., men at 7:00 p.m.
