Women’s Soccer and Volleyball Sweep the Weekend

The Eastern Arizona College Women's Soccer and Volleyball teams both picked up wins over the weekend, keeping momentum strong as conference play continues.

Women's Soccer opened the weekend with an explosive 8-0 victory over Ottawa University on Friday afternoon. The Gila Monsters came out firing, scoring five goals in the first half and adding three more after the break.

Freshman Brynn Kelly led the offensive surge with a hat trick and two assists, while Kaydence Wardell added one goal and two assists. Andrea Perez, Lucy Potter, Bryana Castro, and Adysen Smith each contributed goals to the balanced attack. Ana Julia Carlessi tallied three assists, and goalkeeper Katelyn Cardon recorded three saves to earn the shutout.

EAC will look to carry that momentum into a key home match against Arizona Western College on Tuesday, October 7, at 4:30 p.m.

On the court, EAC Volleyball picked up back-to-back wins over Arizona Western, sweeping the first match 3-0 before taking a 3-1 victory on day two.

In Friday's sweep, Cale Torgerson led the way with 16 kills and 18 digs, while Hannah Pushckor dominated at the net with eight blocks. Addison Hinckley added three service aces to round out a strong team effort.

Saturday's match saw Hinckley post 12 kills and five aces, Pushckor continue her strong defensive presence with nine blocks, and Kambria Maloy lead the back row with 16 digs as the Gila Monsters secured their second win of the weekend.

EAC now prepares for a road trip to North Las Vegas, where they'll face the College of Southern Nevada on October 10 and 11.
