Eastern Arizona College teams took the field and court this past week, showcasing grit and determination across multiple matchups.

Women's Soccer Claims Victory in Yuma

On Friday, August 22, the Women's Soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Northern Idaho in Yuma. Brynn Kelly and Briana Castro each scored to secure the shutout victory.

Coach Long highlighted the challenging conditions, noting, "The weather was extremely hot, and we had to pause the game for water breaks, but our players stayed focused and pushed through."

The team now prepares for a road trip to Utah, where they will face USUE and Salt Lake Community College from August 28–30.

Men's Soccer Opens with Big Win, Faces Top-Ranked Pima

Men's Soccer kicked off its season on August 21 with a dominant 6-0 win over Gateway Community College. Goals were tallied by Ryuki Kato, Davi Barros, Gerardo Caballero, Oscar Gomez Sosa, and a brace from Angel Berrios.

On Saturday, August 23, the Monsters hosted NJCAA #4 DII-ranked Pima Aztecs at John Mickelson Field. EAC struck first, keeping the score tied through halftime, but the Aztecs broke through in the second half, handing the Monsters a 5-1 loss.

With only three games under their belt, the Monsters are still finding their rhythm and showing promise early in the season. They'll now hit the road to face UDA Las Cruces and Western Texas.

Volleyball Battles at NMMI Classic Tournament

Women's Volleyball traveled to the New Mexico Military Institute Classic Tournament, finishing 1-3 across four matches. The team opened with a 0-3 loss to NMMI, then bounced back with a 3-0 sweep of Jefferson College. They later dropped a 1-3 match to Odessa College and narrowly fell 2-3 in a hard-fought battle against Northeastern Junior College.

The Monsters return home for a few days before heading to Dodge City, Kansas, for tournament play August 29–30.
