Monsters Run Away From Yavapai

The Eastern Arizona College basketball team returned home Saturday night and continued their winning ways by knocking off Yavapai 78-58.

Eastern fell behind again to start the game as Yavapai came out on fire shooting their way to a 18-13 advantage seven minutes into the game. Yavapai stretched the lead to 21-15 with just over 11 minutes to go before the Gila Monster defense stepped up holding Yavapai to only two points the rest of the half. The 22-2 run to end the first half gave EAC a 38-23 lead at the break. Yavapai closed the gap to eight with six minutes remaining but again Eastern finished with a flourish outscoring the Roughriders 20-8 to end the game.

Eastern placed three players in double figures on the night led by Marcus Palmer's 21 points. Palmer led the rebounding effort with nine and Boros passed out a team high eight assists. For the game the Monsters hit on 13 of 17 from behind the arc for 76%. The Eastern defense was huge again despite the poor start as EAC held Yavapai to on 37% shooting from the field and out rebounded the Riders 36-22.
