Eastern Men to Start Conference Play

The Eastern Arizona College basketball team will open the conference season tonight when they host Chandler-Gilbert CC. The game is set to tip off at 7:30 MST and all of the action can be heard live via the internet at www.swsn.net.

EAC comes into the game with a 4-2 record, below is a brief recap of the Gila Monsters six pre-season games.

Eastern opened with an 80-39 win over Grand Canyon JV in the first night of the Gila Monster Classic. Freshman forward Regan Andersen led all scorers with 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Marcus Palmer chipped in with 13 points and 7 rebounds.

The second night of the Gila Monster Classic saw EAC drop an 81-69 decision to Eastern Utah. Freshman guard Will Bynum led the Monsters with 16 points, followed by Gabor Boros' 14 and Jordan Jamestown added 11 points.

Eastern traveled to Colorado for two games the first of which saw EAC defeat Otero 77-72. Leading the way again was Will Bynum who scored 20 points. Also in double figures were Regan Andersen with 14, Marcus Palmer and freshman Vladimir Bulut each added 11. Jordan Jamestown had a career high nine assists to pace the offense.

The second night Eastern lost a heartbreaker to Lamar 74-71. Marcus Palmer posted his first double-double of the year scoring 22 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Vladimir Bulut added 16 points and Regan Andersen chipped in with 12 points and 7 rebounds.

EAC returned home for their Thanksgiving Classic and a rematch with Otero. This time Eastern had an easier time as they cruised to a 68-49 victory. Freshman forward Regan Andersen continued his solid early season play as he led the Monsters with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Jamestown had another great all-around game as he handed out 8 assists, grabbed 7 rebounds and had 2 steals.

The second night EAC defeated Tiera del Sol 86-77. Gabor Boros had his best game of the season pouring in 23 points, 20 of which came in the second half. Regan Andersen had 12 and Vladimir Bulut, Will Bynum and Jordan Jamestown each added 11. Jamestown also had 9 assists and 5 rebounds for the Monsters.
