The Eastern Arizona College football team debuted their new offense Saturday night in Tucson against the Pima College Aztecs.

The Monsters amassed 415 yards rushing and 142 yards through the air en route to a 62-0 blowout victory.

With the shutout, the Monsters are now the only college football team in the state of Arizona that hasn’t allowed any points.

Eastern started the scoring stampede with 5:46 remaining in the first quarter when fullback Lester Graham took the handoff from quarterback Gabe Eliserio and raced 54 yards untouched for the score, the PAT was wide right and Eastern led 6-0.

Eliserio also threw for two touchdowns when he hit Arthur Weaver from 14 yards just before the half and to cap the first drive after halftime he hit Terrance Jones in the flat, which turned into a 78 yard pitch and catch. Eliserio finished the game 4 of 5 for 142 yards and the two scores. He also added a 41-yard TD run.

“This was a big win for us,” said first year Head Coach John O’Mera. “It was really important for us to come out and show people that we can play.”

The Monster defense may have been even more impressive. They held the Aztec offense to 202 total yards and picked off quarterback Matt Jarvis three times. Defensive End Danzell Issac returned a fumble 42 yards for a touchdown in the first half.

“I think our defense played a little flat tonight,” said O’Mera. “We are going to have to play a lot better to win next week.”

Next week Eastern will host the Arizona Western Matadors at 6 pm at Mickelson Stadium. Western lost to Snow 47-0 this week.
