Bringing only five players this Tuesday, we dominated Paradise Valley with a score of 7-2. Having a rough first round at our #1 Doubles position, Lauri Howell and Maria Milligan have shined through this second round taking a proud win with a score of 8-4. Amanda Daniels and Jacquelyn Varela won at #2 Doubles with a score of 8-3. Our #3 Doubles had a win by de-fault. Playing very well in all our singles matches, we took the wins at #3 singles, #4 singles, and #5 singles. Jacquelyn Varela split sets with her opponent with a score of 6-0, 4-6, 6-2. Amanda Daniels finished her win in a quick two sets with a score of 6-1, 6-0. Ash Lee Hatch also had a big win with a score of 6-2, 6-0. Although Kelleye Blan didn’t get to play, she took another win from de-fault, making her un-defeated at the #6 singles.

Playing Mesa on Thursday was a big wake-up call to our conference that these girls are here to play hard. With Mesa being the #2 team in our conference we gave them our best fight, barely losing with a score of 4-5. Getting tremendous wins at our #2 and #3 Doubles teams we were off to a good start with this match. Amanda Daniels and Jacquelyn Varela had a great game with a score of 8-6. Playing their first match with each other, Kelleye Blan and Ash Lee Hatch proved they were the right #3 Doubles Team to get the job done, winning with a score of 9-7. Only needing 3 singles players to win their match, we gave Mesa a big scare. Having 4 very close singles matches, these lady monsters gave Mesa their best. Our #4 singles player Amanda Daniels played her best game of the season winning at 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. Ash Lee Hatch took another win at #5 singles with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-0. Jacquelyn Varela and Kelleye Blan had very close matches and played extremely well. Although it seems big to lose by one, I feel like we came out winners. The outcome of this game will be a big wake-up call to all the teams in our conference that Eastern is here to win. I am very proud of these girls, and this match is proof that hard work really does pay off. With our season coming to a close end, we are 4-5 in the conference and 4-6 overall. We head into three matches next week, followed by the Regional Tournament on April 13th & 14th.
