Eastern Arizona College Softball Signs New Players for Spring

Alexis Aguirre, who has family ties in Safford and played at Safford High School, was signed to help in both the infield and outfield. She graduated from Canyon del Oro High School in Tucson and spent a year at Yavapai College and attended Pima Community College. Alexis is a sophomore middle infielder and outfielder, and has already shown leadership qualities.

Loran Parker is an incoming freshman pitcher from Auckland, New Zealand. Having graduated high school in December, she took a huge step by coming to the United States to play for Eastern Arizona College. January is the start of her summer break at in New Zealand, and through her coach, Kevin Gettings, she has been brought in to add depth to the freshman pitching staff for the Gila Monsters.

The Gila Monster squad is well rounded with the following players: Kylie Dickson and Salina Gauna are the only returning players from the 2014 team, although Kelsie Hee was on the rehab list in the spring. Sophomore transfers include Rachel Carlos, Roblynn Silva, Amberlin Scharsch and Rebecca Perez. Incoming freshmen include Kendra Behr (Benson High School,) Jordyn Carrasco (Safford High School), Kana Kekaulike, Alyssa Liilii, Alexis Meyers, Allie Pellizarro, Sierra Perez, Kelsea Short and Lauren Tauanu’u.

The Gila Monsters enjoyed the crowds at home games in 2014 and expect to put an exciting team on the field this season. Full rosters and schedules can be found online at eac.edu. The opening home game will be on Tuesday, February 10th against Scottsdale. All home games begin at noon.
