Monsters Fall to Top Ranked Western

The Eastern Arizona College men's basketball team dropped an ACCAC home game Wednesday night when they lost to Arizona Western 71-61.

Eastern fell behind 15-5 in the games first minutes to Western who came into the game as the #1 ranked team in the country. Eastern's struggles continued throughout the first half as they trailed at the break 34-16. The second half saw EAC make several runs to cut the game to as few as eight but could get no closer as Western was just too strong offensively.

The Gila Monsters placed three players in double figures led by Brandon Woods' 17, 16 of which came in the second half. Chris Booker scored 16 and Jerryck Owens-Murrey added 15. Woods led EAC with 9 rebounds while Booker grabbed 8. Eastern's downfall was shooting in the first half as they only made 6 of their 24 field goal attempts.

Eastern (14-9, 8-7) travels to play Phoenix College on Saturday for a rare afternoon contest. Game time is set for 4pm MST and all of the action can be heard live via the internet at www.swsn.net. Eastern will return home next Wednesday when they face Mesa.
