The Eastern Arizona College men's basketball team pulled out an exciting come from behind victory Saturday night when they defeated Cochise 83-79 in Thathcer.

The first half was a back and forth affair with 9 ties and 4 lead changes before the teams went into the locker room tied at 34. The game was again tied three minutes into the half at 41 when Cochise began to take control. Over the next eight minutes Cochise capitalized on Eastern's sloppy ball handling and rebounding to take a commanding 13 point lead at 62-49 with just over nine minutes to play. It was then the Gila Monsters turn as they outscored Cochise 14-1 over the next 5 minutes to tie the score at 63. The Monsters were not done as they continued their run actually going ahead by ten points, 76-66 with a minute to play. Cochise mounted one final run but timely free throw shooting by sophomore guard Phil Harvey who went 8-10 down the stretch sealed the victory for EAC.

Eastern placed five players in double figures led by Brandon Woods and Hrvoje Pervan who both scored 19. Phillip Harvey and Chris Booker each scored 13 and Russ Murrey added 10. Pervan led the Monsters on the glass with 12 rebounds followed closely behind by Booker's eight and Murrey's 7 while Anthony Kidd passed out 6 assists, grabbed seven rebounds, and blocked four shots to go with his seven points.

Eastern (14-6, 8-4) now moves into a three way tie for third in the ACCAC but must go on the road for their next two games. Wednesday's contest is at Glendale and Saturday they travel to Central before returning home on February 9th to host second ranked Arizona Western. Game time for each is slated for 7:30 MST and all of the action can be heard live via the internet at www.swsn.net.
