Men vs. South Mountain CC


The Eastern Arizona College men's basketball team won another ACCAC game Saturday night as they defeated South Mountain 82-67 in Thatcher.

After two quick lead changes Eastern took control of the game with a 14-4 run and would never relinquish the lead. The Gila Monsters led by as many as twelve in the first half before settling on a 41-34 advantage at the break. In the second half South closed the gap to just two points twice, the final time coming at 52-50 with just over eleven minutes remaining. EAC slowly regained control and pushed the lead back to double digits with a 11-2 run over a two minute span and then held on for the win.

Eastern placed three players in double figures led by Brandon Woods 20 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman point guard Anthony Kidd scored a career high 14 points while passing out 6 assists and Chris Booker came off the bench to add 12. Russ Murrey and Sone Finister each chipped in with 9 points and Hrvoje Pervan scored 8 while grabbing 9 rebounds. Eastern again held a huge rebounding advantage on the night, out rebounding South 40-17.

EAC (12-6, 6-4) will travel to play Chandler-Gilbert on Wednesday night closing out the first half of the conference season. Eastern will return home on Saturday to face Cochise. Both games are set to tip off at 7:30 MST and all of the action can be heard live via the internet at www.swsn.net
