Four Gila Monster Sophomores Sign Letters of Intent

Congratulations to Taylor Stafford, D’Juan Miller, Dominique Hunter, and Jeremiah Harris on accepting scholarship offers to continue their playing careers at the next level. These four EAC Men’s Basketball players helped the Gila Monsters win nearly 40 games the past two seasons, make the postseason region tournament, and receive national recognition in the polls.

Stafford, a two-time NJCAA Division 1 All-American from Duluth, Minnesota, signed Wednesday to play next year at the University of Evansville (IN). Stafford was 4th in the nation in scoring this year at 25 points per game and finished his career with over 1,300 points at EAC. He was also named ACCAC Conference Player of the Year this season and named 1st Team All-Conference and All-Region for the second time. Evansville competes in the highly respected Missouri Valley Conference (NCAA I).

Miller, a 1st Team All-Region and 2nd Team All-Conference performer this season from Kent, Washington, signed Wednesday to continue his career at NCAA Division 1 member University of Illinois-Chicago. Miller was 9th in the league in scoring at 18 points per contest this season, 5th in the league in assists per game, and 2nd in the league in steals per game. UIC competes in the Horizon League.

Hunter, a 2nd Team All-Region and Honorable All-Conference selection this season from Tacoma, Washington, is signing with the University of Alaska-Anchorage, an NCAA II program that is consistently ranked nationally. Hunter was 8th in the ACCAC in scoring this season at 18 points per game and 6th in the conference in 3-Point Field Goals Made. UAA competes in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Harris, a two-year starter for EA from Portland, Oregon, signed with Corban University (OR). Harris had 5 double-doubles this season and 9 games with 10 rebounds or more, including a career high 20 rebounds on the road versus Tohono O’odham. Corban, an NAIA Division I member, competes in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
