Bball Men vs. Phoenix College


The Eastern Arizona College men's basketball team ended their pre-Christmas portion of the schedule Wednesday night with a 75-73 victory over Phoenix College.

Phoenix jumped out to a quick 8-5 lead before Eastern took control of the game. EAC pushed to a 10 point lead at halftime, 35-25. Eastern's good play continued into the second half as they extended their lead to 17 points three minutes in. Phoenix however would not go quietly as they slowly chipped away at the lead actually tying the score at 73 all with 30 seconds remaining. After a missed free throw Phoenix had the ball with a chance to go for the win but Eastern's defense stepped up and made a play to win the game. Phillip Harvey deflected a pass that was recovered by Anthony Kidd who then fed Brandon Woods for a lay up with 1.1 seconds left. Phoenix had a desperation three come up short allowing the Gila Monsters to escape with the win.

Eastern placed four players in double figures led by freshman forward Sone Finister who poured in a career high 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Brandon Woods returned to the the lineup with a quiet 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Phillip Harvey continued his fine play with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and six assists and freshman guard Chris Booker came off the bench with his best performance to date adding 10 points.

Eastern goes to the break with a 7-4 record overall and 3-2 in the ACCAC. EAC returns to action December 31st when they travel to Phoenix to play Southwestern College. Game time is 3:00 MST and all the action can be heard live via the internet at www.swsn.net.
