The Eastern Arizona College men's basketball team survived a scare Saturday night when they defeated Glendale 85-84 in Thatcher.

Eastern jumped out to a quick 19-12 lead midway through the first half but foul trouble plagued the Monsters the final ten minutes of the half allowing Glendale to storm back and take a 43-38 lead into the break. In the first half, Glendale shot 20 free throws and EAC saw five of their players saddled with two fouls. The second half didn't start out much better for Eastern as they saw Glendale push their lead to 11 points, 51-40 two minutes in. EAC finally got back on track and caught up seven minutes later and eventually took a 77-70 lead with six minutes to play in the game. Glendale was not through as they mounted one final comeback actually taking a one point lead with just over two minutes to play but key offensive plays by Brandon Woods and Hrvoje Pervan and two late defensive rebounds by Sone Finnister allowed EAC to escape with the one point win.

Eastern placed three players in double figures on the night. Brandon Woods poured in a game high 26 while pulling down 9 rebounds. Hrvoje Pervan followed with a career high 25 points and Phillip Harvey added 10 points to go along with 10 assists, 5 rebounds, and three steals. EAC also received a huge effort off the bench from freshman forward Sone Finnister who contributed 8 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Eastern moves to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the ACCAC. The Monsters have their work cut out for them in the next two contests as they host 6-1 Central Arizona on Wednesday and then travel to Yuma to face undefeated Arizona Western on Saturday. Both game times are set for 7:30 MST and all the action can be heard live via the internet at www.swsn.net.
