The finale also doubled as a championship game as both host and 27th ranked Eastern Arizona College and Odessa were easy winners the first night. It was the EAC Gila Monsters who came away with an 81-71 victory. After a brief 7-5 Odessa lead EAC never trailed. A 22-6 run in the first half allowed Eastern to open a 37-19 margin in the final minutes of the first half before ending the first twenty minutes ahead 41-26. EAC's excellent play continued to start the second half as they pushed the lead to as many as 24 with just over 13 minutes remaining. Odessa however battled back taking advantage of 23 second half free throw attempts. Odessa trimmed the lead to as few as eight with two minutes to play but Eastern was able to hold on for the win.
