4/24/2017

Congratulations to Golf postseason award winners. Ryan Cahill was named to the ACCAC 1st Team. Jarrod Mann, Conor Cull, and Sean Mullan were named to the ACCAC 2nd Team. Monsters compete in the Region I Tournament this Thursday-Sunday.

Softball won twice against South Mountain. Scores were 7-0 and 11-0. Lady Monsters (32-12 ACCAC, 38-15 overall) travel to Yavapai on Tuesday for a 12pm doubleheader.

Baseball lost twice at Arizona Western. Scores were 1-3 and 1-2. Monsters host Central Arizona on Tuesday in a 12pm doubleheader to close out the regular season home schedule.

 

4/19/2017

Tennis finished 2nd at the Region 1 championships and qualified for the National Tournament to be held in Tucson May 7-12. Juliette Mary was the region champion at the #2 singles position and named to the All-Region Team. Amelie Saint-Dizier finished runner up at the #1 singles, Jennifer Milne finished runner up at the #3 singles, Celine Marin finished runner up at the #4 singles, and Payton Cap finished runner up at the #5 singles. In doubles Saint-Dizier and Mary finished runner up at the #1 doubles, Milne and Marin finished runner up at the #2 doubles, and Cap and Rebekah Larson finished runner up at the #3 doubles. Congratulations to Coach Duane DeSpain and the Lady Monsters.

Softball defeated Scottsdale twice yesterday. Scores were 6-5 and 11-3. Lady Monsters are home on Saturday hosting South Mountain in a noon doubleheader.

Baseball split with visiting South Mountain. Scores were 2-5 and 5-3. Monsters travel to Arizona Western on Saturday for a noon doubleheader.

Softball won twice at Glendale on Saturday. Scores were 12-0 and 12-7. Lady Monsters host Scottsdale on Tuesday in a noon doubleheader.

Baseball lost twice to #8 Cochise. Monsters host South Mountain on Tuesday in a noon doubleheader.

Tennis travels to the Region I Tournament in Glendale April 18-19.

Golf plays in the Paradise Valley Tournament at Gainey Ranch GC April 17-18.

Softball split with Pima Saturday. Scores were 4-16 and 9-1. Lady Monsters host Mesa on Tuesday in a noon doubleheader.

Baseball lost twice to Gateway. Scores were 1-4 and 4-5. Monsters travel to Glendale on Tuesday for a noon doubleheader.

Congratulations to Baseball’s Austin Alarid who was recently named the DI Pitcher of the Week. Austin pitched 8 innings allowing just 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 6 in an 8-2 win over Scottsdale. He was also brought in to pinch hit and hit a double in the bottom of the 7th in the first game to drive in the winner for a 5-4 win.

Tennis finishes the regular season today at Paradise Valley.

Softball hosts Pima on Saturday in a 12pm doubleheader.

Baseball hosts Gateway on Saturday in a 12pm doubleheader.

Golf plays in the Pima Tournament in Tucson on Sunday and Monday.

Baseball defeated Scottsdale twice on Saturday. Scores were 5-4 and 8-2. Monsters travel to Chandler-Gilbert on Tuesday for a 12pm doubleheader.

Softball lost twice to Phoenix on Saturday. Scores were 3-4 and 8-13. Lady Monsters travel to Chandler-Gilbert on Tuesday for a 1pm doubleheader.

Tennis travels to Mesa on Tuesday for a 1:30pm match.

Tennis defeated Glendale 9-0. Lady Monsters travel to Mesa on Tuesday for a 1:30pm match.

Golf finished 3rd in the South Mountain Tournament at Legacy Golf Resort. Monsters travel to the Pima Tournament at Fred Enke Golf Course on April 9-10.

Softball hosts Phoenix Saturday in a noon doubleheader.

Baseball hosts Scottsdale Saturday in a noon doubleheader.

Tennis defeated Pima on the road yesterday. Score was 6-3. Lady Monsters host their last home match on Thursday against Glendale at 1:30pm.

Baseball split games at Pima. Scores were 8-0 and 2-3. Monsters host Scottsdale on Saturday in a noon doubleheader.

Softball hosts #3 Phoenix on Saturday in a noon doubleheader.

Women’s Basketball defeated Glendale 86-76 to finish the regular season. Lady Monsters (17-5 ACCAC, 20-10 overall) travel to Arizona Western (17-5 ACCAC, 22-8 overall) on Tuesday for the Region I Semifinals. Winner advances to the Region I Championship on Friday, March 10th at Cochise (19-3 ACCAC, 26-3 overall).

Congratulations to Veronica Preciado for being named DI Player of the year. Preciado was named to the 1st Team All-ACCAC Team and All-Region Team. Tania Pierre-Emile was named 2nd Team All-ACCAC and 1st Team All-Region.

Men’s Basketball lost to Glendale 89-109 to complete their season.

Tennis defeated Glendale on Tuesday and hosts Mesa today at 1:30pm.

Softball defeated Goshen College (IN) 13-1 and 9-1. Lady Monsters (8-6 ACCAC, 13-8 overall) play at Embry-Riddle College on Friday and at Scottsdale on Saturday.

Baseball travels to Central Arizona on Saturday.

Women’s Basketball defeated Central Arizona (13-8 ACCAC, 18-10 overall) 79-76. Lady Monsters (16-5 ACCAC, 19-10 overall) travel to Glendale ( 7-14 ACCAC, 11-17 overall) on Tuesday to end the regular season.

Men’s Basketball defeated Central Arizona (8-13 ACCAC, 15-14 overall) 75-66. Monsters (8-13 ACCAC, 15-14 overall) travel to Glendale (11-10 ACCAC, 16-13 overall) on Tuesday to end the regular season.

Women’s Basketball defeated Tohono O’Odham (2-16 ACCAC, 4-19 overall) 83-72. Lady Monsters (14-5 ACCAC, 17-10 overall) travel to Chandler-Gilbert (0-19 ACCAC, 0-26 overall) on Wednesday.

Men’s Basketball defeated Tohono O’Odham (6-13 ACCAC, 8-19 overall) 99-89. Monsters (7-12 ACCAC, 14-13 overall) travel to Chandler-Gilbert (7-12 ACCAC, 12-15 overall) on Wednesday.

Baseball split a four game series with Utah State University-Eastern Utah this weekend. Scores were 3-5, 8-6, 0-3, 7-3. Monsters (9-7) open up ACCAC play on Tuesday hosting Arizona Western.

Women’s Basketball defeated Mesa (14-4 ACCAC, 18-6 overall) 71-62. Lady Monsters (13-5 ACCAC, 16-10 overall) host Tohono O’Odham (2-15 ACCAC, 4-18 overall) on Saturday at 5:30pm.

Men’s Basketball lost to Mesa 11-7 ACCAC, 16-9 overall) 73-92. Monsters (6-12 ACCAC, 13-13 overall) host Tohono O’Odham (6-11 ACCAC, 8-17 overall) on Saturday at 7:30pm.

Baseball hosts USU Eastern Utah on Friday and Saturday in noon doubleheaders.

Tennis traveled dropped 5 matches this weekend. They lost at Western New Mexico 1-8. Participating in the JUCO Southwest Tournament they lost four matches: 0-9 to #4 Cowley County College, 1-8 to #11 Collin College, 0-9 to #6 Seminole State College, and 2-7 to #12 North Central Texas College. Freshman Juliette Mary went 3-2 competing at the #2 singles position. Lady Monsters travel to the ACCAC Jamboree on Friday.

Women’s Basketball defeated South Mountain (3-14 ACCAC, 5-14 overall) 90-77. Lady Monsters (12-5 ACCAC, 15-10 overall) host Mesa (14-3 ACCAC, 18-5 overall) on Wednesday at 5:30pm.

Men’s Basketball defeated South Mountain (2-15 ACCAC, 10-15 overall) 104-99. Monsters (6-11 ACCAC, 13-12 overall) host Mesa (107 ACCAC, 15-9 overall) on Wednesday at 7:30pm.

Baseball lost 3 of four to Trinidad State (CO) JC. Scores were 2-4, 9-4, 8-1, and 7-8. Monsters (7-5) host USU-Eastern Utah on Friday and Saturday in noon doubleheaders.

Softball defeated Gateway twice on Saturday. Lady Monsters travel to Phoenix on Tuesday.

Women’s basketball defeated Phoenix (7-9 ACCAC, 10-13 overall) 85-80. Lady Monsters (11-5 ACCAC, 14-10 overall) travel to South Mountain (3-13 ACCAC, 5-13 overall) on Saturday for a 2pm game.

Men’s Basketball defeated #8 DII Phoenix (12-4 ACCAC, 19-5 overall) 98-87. Monsters (5-11 ACCAC, 12-12 overall) travel to South Mountain (2-14 ACCAC, 10-14 overall) on Saturday for a 4pm game.

Baseball (6-2) opens up a four game series with Trinidad State JC with a 2pm game today. Friday is a 12pm doubleheader and Saturday a single game at 12pm.

 

2/8/2017

Softball lost twice at Central Arizona. Scores were 2-9 and 10-18. Lady Monsters host Gateway on Saturday in a noon doubleheader.

Baseball defeated El Paso CC twice. Scores were 8-3 and 13-3. Monsters host Trinidad State JC Thursday at 2pm. Friday doubleheader at 12pm, and Saturday single game at 12pm.

Basketball travels to Phoenix tonight. Women play at 5:30pm and men follow at 7:30pm.

Tennis travels to Western New Mexico University today for a 12pm match and then to the Southwest JUCO Tournament in Plano, TX this weekend.

Golf finished 3rd in the Mesa Invitational. Freshman Conor Cull finished 8th overall.

Women’s Basketball defeated #3 DII Pima (11-4 ACCAC, 17-4 overall) 92-87. Lady Monsters (10-5 ACCAC, 13-5 overall) travel to Phoenix (7-8 ACCAC, 10-12 overall) on Wednesday for a 5:30pm game.

Men’s Basketball lost to Pima (9-6 ACCAC, 15-8 overall) 100-111. Monsters (4-11 ACCAC, 11-12 overall) travel to #10 DII Phoenix (12-3 ACCAC, 19-4 overall) on Wednesday for a 7:30pm game.

Tennis defeated Imperial Valley College 8-1 on Thursday. Lady Monsters (1-0) travel to Western New Mexico University on Thursday.

Softball split a doubleheader with Paradise Valley today. Scores were 7-9 and 8-3. Lady Monsters (1-1 ACCAC, 4-3 overall) travel to Central Arizona (2-0 ACCAC, 4-2 overall) on Tuesday for a doubleheader.

Baseball split a doubleheader with Luna CC (NM) today. Scores were 2-3 and 5-1. Monsters (4-2) host El Paso CC on Tuesday in a 11am doubleheader.

Women’s Basketball defeated #18 Cochise (11-3 ACCAC, 18-3 overall) 77-74. Lady Monsters (9-5 ACCAC, 12-10 overall host #3 DII Pima (11-3 ACCAC, 17-4 overall) on Saturday at 5:30pm.

Men’s Basketball lost to Cochise 81-105. Monsters (4-10 ACCAC, 11-11 overall) host Pima (8-6 ACCAC, 14-8 overall) on Saturday at 7:30pm.

Tennis opens the season in Phoenix today against Imperial Valley College at 3pm.

Baseball split games at El Paso on Tuesday losing 3-4 in 8 innings and winning 4-2. Monsters (1-1) host Luna CC on Friday and Saturday. Doubleheaders begin at 12pm Friday and 11am Saturday.

Softball went 3-2 over the weekend at a tournament in Las Vegas. Lady Monsters (3-2) open up the ACCAC hosting Paradise Valley on Saturday in a doubleheader at 12pm.

Congratulations to Veronica Preciado who was named ACCAC DI Player of the Week. Preciado averaged 17 points per game against Central Arizona and Glendale. She had 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in the two games.

Congratulations to Nate Bradford for recently being named DI Player of the Week. Bradford averaged 20.5 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 block last week. The 6’3 freshman guard from Portland, Oregon. shot 55% from the field.

Women’s Basketball defeated Mesa (5-2 ACCAC, 9-4 overall) 63-61. Lady Monsters (5-2 ACCAC, 8-7 overall) travel to Tohono O’odham on Wednesday for a 5:30pm game.

Men lost to Mesa (6-1 ACCAC, 11-3 overall) 75-85. Monsters travel to Tohono O’odham on Wednesday for a 7:30pm game.

Both teams return home on Saturday for 5:30 and 7:30pm games against Chandler Gilbert.

Women’s Basketball defeated Phoenix 75-39. Lady Monsters (3-2 ACCAC, 5-5 overall) travel to the CSN Tournament in Las Vegas on December 27-29th.

Men’s Basketball lost to Phoenix 67-106. Monsters play at home December 31st against Just Hoops Prep at 1pm.

Congratulations to Veronica Preciado as she was named ACCAC DI Player of the Week. Preciado scored 33 points in games against Scottsdale and Cochise including 26 points against Scottsdale. She also grabbed nine rebounds for the week. The 5'7 guard is a sophomore from Sacramento, CA.

Congratulations to football's Malik Young as he was named to the NJCAA 1st Team All-American Defensive Team. The 6'3 285 lbs sophomore Defensive Lineman from Marietta, GA. was also named 1st Team Region I, 1st Team WSFL, and WSFL Defensive Player of the Year. Young had 42 tackles, 23 assisted tackles, and averaged 5.4 tackles per game.

Congratulations to Football in defeating #14 Butler CC in the Salt City Bowl held in Hutchinson, KS. Score was 39-38. QB Jonathan Thomas was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player. Monsters complete the 2016 season at 9-3.

The Fall Sports Banquet will be held on Tuesday 6:30pm. The event will honor Football, Volleyball, Cheer, and Athletic Training. It will be streamed live on https://livestream.com/eacmonsters.

Women’s Basketball lost to Cochise 63-74. Lady Monsters (1-2 ACCAC, 3-5 overall) travel to Pima (3-0 ACCAC, 8-1 overall) on Wednesday for a 5:30pm game.

Congratulations to the football team who were invited to play in the Salt City Bowl in Hutchinson, KS. Monsters (8-3) will play #14 Bulter (7-4) on December 3rd at 12pm MST.

Women’s Basketball participated in the Women’s NIT in Midland, TX and were 1-2. They defeated the College of Southern Idaho 79-72 in overtime. Losses came to Odessa College 64-73 and #25 Iowa Western CC 55-70. Lady Monsters (0-0 ACCAC, 2-3 overall) open up conference play on Tuesday hosting Arizona Western (0-0 ACCAC, 3-3 overall) at 5:30pm. Men (0-0 ACCAC, 6-1 overall) play Arizona Western (0-0 ACCAC, 6-1 overall) at 7:30pm.

Men’s Basketball defeated Just Hoops Prep 92-72. Monsters (0-0 ACCAC, 3-1 overall) host Hillcrest Academy on Thursday at 7pm.

Congratulations to football’s Leon McQuaker for being named WSFL Defensive Player of the Week. McQuaker is a sophomore linebacker from Augusta, Georgia. He had 16 tackles (12 solo, 4 assisted) and two sacks in the Monster’s 26-24 win at Phoenix College.

Volleyball lost in the Region I Championship to Arizona Western. Scores were 25-20, 17-25, 27-25, 20-25, 6-15. Lady Monsters (11-5 ACCAC, 22-9 overall) finish the 2016 season as Region I Runners up.

Football defeated Phoenix on the road. Score was 26-24 on late field goal by kicker Patrick LeCorre. Monsters (3-3 WSFL, 7-3 overall) close out the regular season at home against Glendale (1-5 WSFL, 3-6 overall) on Saturday at 7pm.

Men’s Basketball played in the Las Vegas Tip Off Classic over the weekend and went 2-1. Victories came over Western Wyoming CC (76-71) and Impact Academy (82-52). Their loss was to Snow (65-97). Monsters host Just Hoops Prep on Tuesday at 7pm.

Congratulations to volleyball’s Toni Steinbach for being named ACCAC DI Player of the Week. Steinbach totaled 16 kills, 4 blocks, 5 digs, and 2 assists in wins over South Mountain and #13 Arizona Western last week. She is a freshman from Stuttgart, Germany.

Congratulations to football’s Clifford Lowe as he was named the WSFL Offensive Player of the Week. The sophomore running back from Stockbridge, GA had 15 carries for 171 yards, 1 rushing TD, and one catch for 6yards and a TD in the Monster’s 52-20 win over Scottsdale.

Tennis completed play at the NJCAA National Tournament and finished in 24th place. Erin Hackett lost in the Consolation Semi-finals.

Golf is participating in the NJCAA National Tournament May 15-20th in Melbourne, Florida.

Golf finished 12th in the National Tournament. Freshman Ryan Cahill from Ascot, England finished tied for 9th.

Cahill was named to the NJCAA Div I Ping All-American Honorable Mention Team. He and sophomore Nicholas Barney (Brisbane, Australia) were named to the NJCAA Div I Ping All-District I Team.

Tennis finished 3rd in the Region I Championship which qualified them for the NJCAA National Tournament May 7-13 in Tyler, TX. The team earned points from wins by #6 Zoey Freeman, #1 Doubles Amelie-Dizier and Nikita Hill, and a runner-up finish by #3 Celine Marin.

Congratulations to softball’s Kendra Behr for being named DI Pitcher of the Week. Behr recorded wins against Glendale and South Mountain last week. She allowed 1 earned run and struck out 4 batters in the two games.

Congratulations to softball’s Isabelle Mejia for being named DI Player of the Week. Eastern went 4-0 behind Mejia who went 8 for 13 at the plate with 2 home runs, a double, a triple, and 10 rbis.

Women's Basketball lost to #2 Shelton State College 77-90 in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA National Tournament. Lady Monsters finish the season 25-9. Congratulations to Coach Ryan McAdams, assistant coaches Sumayyah Muhammad and Koby Alva, manager Rocky Bates, student athletic trainer Shaylee Leslie on a great run at the tournament. Lady Monsters 2015-16 fantastic year included two firsts in program history: Region Champions and a first round win at the NJCAA National Tournament.

Kudos to Machael Layton and the Cheer Team who traveled by van almost 1200 miles to cheer on the Lady Monsters! Cheer team returned today and leave Thursday for the National Cheer competition in Anaheim, CA March 18-20.

Congratulations to Darrian Ringo being named DI Player of the Week. Darrian had a great week for Eastern Arizona averaging 25.5 points, 7.5 assists, 6 rebounds and 3.5 steals in two ACCAC wins. Ringo shot 55% from the field for the Gila Monsters and made 15 of his 16 free throw attempts.

Congratulations to Brontay Corbray for being named DI Player of the Week. Corbray averaged 17 points, 8.5 rebounds,and 1.5 steals per contest. He shot 44% from the field and 75% from the free throw line in two victories.

Women's basketball went 2-0 last week winning at Tohono O'Odham (1-5 ACCAC, 2-8 overall) 82-34 and at Arizona Western (3-4 ACCAC, 7-5 overall) 76-73. Lady Monsters (7-0 ACCAC, 10-3 overall) travel to Las Vegas December 29-30th to play #1 Salt Lake City CC and #4 College of Southern Idaho.

Men's basketball went 1-1 last week in winning at Tohono O'Odham (0-6 ACCAC, 2-10 overall) 93-90 and losing at Arizona Western (6-1 ACCAC, 13-2 overall) 63-97. Monsters (5-2 ACCAC, 11-3 overall host Just Hoops Prep on January 2nd at 2pm.

Both teams return to ACCAC play traveling to Scottsdale on January 6th.

Congratulations to women’s basketball player Tania Pierre-Emile for being named DI Player of the Week. Pierre-Emile scored 16 and 18 points against Glendale and Chandler-Gilbert respectively and had 11 rebounds and a blocked shot in each game leading the Lady Monsters to two ACCAC victories. She also was 12 of 14 from the free throw line.

Men defeated Glendale 107-99 in three overtimes. Monsters (1-0 ACCAC, 7-1 overall) travel to Chandler-Gilbert on Saturday.

Congratulations to Men’s Basketball player Malik Sanchez who was recently named DI Player of the Week. Sanchez led the Monsters to a 6-1 start, averaging 14 points and 7 rebounds per game. Sanchez shot 44% from the field and 81% from the free throw line. He currently leads the Gila Monsters in scoring and is second in rebounding.

Congratulations to sophomore Akia Frett for also being named DI Player of the Week. Frett led the Gila Monsters to a 2-2 record last week, three of those games were against Top 25 teams. She totaled 45 points, 10 rebounds, 19 assists and 11 steals in the 4 games.

Men’s Basketball participated in the Arizona Western Classic in Yuma over the weekend and were 2-1. Victories came over Cety’s University 96-52 and USU-Eastern 74-72. Loss came against North Idaho College 70-91. Monsters (0-0 ACCAC, 6-1 overall) open up ACCAC play on Wednesday hosting Glendale at 7:30pm.

#19 Women’s basketball opens up the season at the New Mexico JC Tournament in Hobbs, NM. Today they play Western Texas College and Saturday they play #9 New Mexico JC.

Volleyball lost to Yavapai last night to close out the regular season. Scores were 26-28, 24-26, and 23-25. Lady Monsters (7-9 ACCAC,13-15 overall) will host the first round of the Region I Tournament if Yavapai defeats Central Arizona on Friday to close out their regular seasons. Region I match would be played on Wednesday, November 4th.

Volleyball lost to #3 ranked Glendale. Scores were 25-18, 14-25, 22-25, and 18-25. Lady Monsters (6-8 ACCAC, 12-13 overall) host Central Arizona (6-6 ACCAC, 10-9 overall) Monday, October 26th, at 7pm. This match was previously scheduled for this Friday but moved per agreement by both schools.

Football climbed into the national poll this week with a #19 ranking. Monsters (5-2 WSFL, 6-2 overall) travel to New Mexico Military Institute (4-3 WSFL, 5-3 overall) on Saturday for the final regular season game. Game time is 1pm in Arizona. With a victory Eastern can claim the #2 seed in the play-offs beginning on October 31st.

Congratulations to Sophomore QB Detrich Clark for being named the WSFL Offensive Player of the Week. In a 34-20 victory over Mesa last week, Clark had 28 carries for 276 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 71 yards and one touchdown. He is from Montezuma, GA.

Football hosts Tucson Prep on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm.

Golf played in the Arizona Christian Desert Classic played at Stonecreek Golf Club. Freshman, Jarrod Mann won the event with scores of 69-71 for a total of 140 two under par. Team totals were; South Mountain: 576; Arizona Christian: 575; EAC: 576 and Mesa: 582.

This was Jarrod Mann’s first college event. Other EAC scores: Sophomore Nicholas Barney: 145; Sophomore Morgan Dupree: 152: Freshman Ryan Cahill: 147: and Freshman Carson Park: 160.

Volleyball travelled to the New Mexico Military Institute Tournament over the weekend and went 1-3. They defeated Seward County CC 25-22, 22-25, 25-14, and 25-19. Losses came against #19 Odessa College (12-25, 25-12, 19-25, 25-16, and 11-15; #20 Hutchinson CC (11-25, 19-25, and 14-25); and New Mexico Military Institute (25-21, 22-25, 25-23, 18-25, 12-15).

Lady Monsters are 1-3 in the young season and travel to Brenham, TX this weekend to compete in the Blinn College Tournament.

REGION I CHAMPIONS!!! Congratulations to softball as they defeated Central Arizona in the Region I Championship. Score was 14-3 in 5 innings. Pitcher Kendra Behr was named Tournamnent MVP. Lady Monsters qualify for the NJCAA National Tournament in St. George, UT on May 13-16.

Tennis is in day two of the NJCAA National Tournament.

#1 Pauline Chawafambira and #2 McKenna Nelson have advanced to the quarterfinals and play on Tuesday.

#3 Cassidy McWhorter and #6 Brianna Beus have advanced to the quarterfinals in the Consolation bracket and play on Tuesday.

Softball defeated Pima twice yesterday. Scores were 6-2 and 10-2. Lady Monsters (37-9 ACCAC, 40-16 overall) move into a tie for first place and close out the regular season at Central Arizona on Saturday.

Baseball dropped two games against visiting Central Arizona. Scores were 1-9 and 6-11. Monsters (9-25 ACCAC and 20-30 overall) travel to Yavapai on Saturday to close out the regular season.

Tennis returned from the Region I Championship with a runner-up trophy. Pauline Chawafambira won at #1 singles. Kylee Jones won #5 singles. Chawafambira and Mckenna Nelson won #1 doubles. Chawafambira was named the ACCAC Player of the Year.

Softball won twice at Paradise Valley on Saturday. Scores were 11-3 and 10-0. Lady Monsters (35-9 ACCAC, 38-16 overall) host league-leading #3 Pima on Tuesday in a noon doubleheader. Games will be streamed on livestream.com/eacmonsters.

Baseball lost twice to Arizona Western. Scores were 0-2 and 6-16. Monsters (9-23 ACCAC, 20-28 overall) host Central Arizona on Tuesday in a noon doubleheader.

Golf plays in the Region I Tournament Thursday through Saturday in Apache Junction.

Softball beat Phoenix twice yesterday. Scores were 3-1 and 5-4. Lady Monsters (33-9 ACCAC, 36-16 overall) travel to Paradise Valley on Saturday and return home against Pima on Tuesday.

Baseball split a doubleheader against South Mountain. Scores were 5-0 and 12-14. Monsters (9-21 ACCAC, 20-26 overall) travel to Arizona Western on Saturday and return home against Central Arizona on Tuesday.

Golf finished 6th at the Paradise Valley Tournament.

Congratulations to softball player Kendra Behr and baseball player Cameron Weinberg for being named Players of the Week recently.

Behr pitched 21 innings in winning three games. She struck out seven, walked two, and had a 3.67 ERA.

Weinberg pitched a seven inning shutout in a 2-0 win over Phoenix. He had twelve strikeouts and one walk.

Softball defeated Howard College (TX) yesterday in a doubleheader and in dramatic fashion. Scores were 5-4 and 10-9 with both wins coming in the bottom of the eighth in extra innings. Lady Monsters improve to 18-6 in the ACCAC and 22-13 overall. They host Gateway on Saturday in a noon doubleheader.

Golf finished 4th in the recent Pima Tournament. Ryan Gaske finished 4th individually. Monsters are fourth overall in the ACCAC and second on the DI side.

Baseball hosts Monroe CC (NY) on Friday in a noon doubleheader and Phoenix on Saturday in a noon doubleheader.

Women’s Basketball ended their season at the NJCAA National Tournament. They lost to Wallace State (AL) CC 59-87. Lady Monsters finish an historical season as ACCAC Co-Champions, Region I Runner-up, and selected as an at-large spot for the NJCAA National Tournament. Congratulations to Coach Ryan McAdams, Assistant Coach DeAudra Brown, and the Lady Gila Monsters!

Softball split a doubleheader against visiting Arizona Western yesterday. Scores were 3-2 and 2-6. Lady Monsters are 17-6 in the ACCAC and 20-13 overall. They host Howard College (TX) today in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at noon. They host Gateway on Saturday in a noon doubleheader.

Although the #11 Lady Monsters lost to Central Arizona 72-87 in the Region I Championship game on Friday night, their fantastic season continues as they received one of the four national at-large spots in the NJCAA National Tournament March 16-21. Tennis defeated Pima 7-2 yesterday. Lady Monsters improve to 2-0 in the ACCAC. They travel to Glendale on Tuesday and are home again on Thursday against Mesa.

Basketball postseason awards were announced this week:

Chukwuma Chiamaka and Jazmin Horne were named 1st Team All-ACCAC and 1st Team All-Region. Ashley Duffy was name 3rd Team All-ACCAC and 2nd Team All-Region. Akia “Mookie “ Frett earned Player of the Week honors recently. She averaged 11 points , 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and two steals per game leading the Lady Monsters to victories over South Mountain and Mesa.

Jaraan Lands and Reggie Oliver were named 2nd Team All-Region.

Women’s Region I Semifinals are Tuesday at 7:30pm. Lady Monsters host Arizona Western with the winner advancing to the Region Championship at Central Arizona on Friday.

#12 ranked Women’s Basketball defeated Phoenix 85-45 to complete the regular season. Lady Monsters finish as ACCAC Co-Champions (20-2 in the ACCAC, 26-3 overall). They host the Region I Semifinals on Tuesday at 7:30pm against Arizona Western. Winner advances to the Region I Championship on Friday, March 6, at Central Arizona.

Men lost to Phoenix 78-89. Monsters finish the 2014-15 campaign 6-16 in the ACCAC and 12-18 overall.

Baseball defeated Vancouver Island Baseball Institute in a doubleheader. Scores were 10-3 and 10-0. They travel to Central Arizona on Saturday.

Softball went 2-3 at the CSN Tournament in Henderson, NV. Victories came over Snow College (10-2) and Colorado Northwestern CC (16-3). Losses were to Salt Lake CC (5-7), El Paso CC (5-10), and College of Southern Nevada (5-8). Lady Monsters (2-3) travel to Gateway on Tuesday to open up conference play.

Men's basketball went 2-0 in the EAC Classic. Monsters defeated Planet Athlete Prep 121-69 and Westwind Prep 107-83. They improve to 9-6 overall and are 3-4 in the ACCAC.

#6 ranked women went 1-1 at the Southern Nevada Tournament over the break. They lost 62-65 to Utah State University Eastern Utah and defeated #19 College of Southern Idaho 67-40. Lady Monsters are 13-1 overall and lead the ACCAC with a 7-0 record.

Both teams travel to Scottsdale on Wednesday and South Mountain on Saturday.

Women's basketball defeated Arizona Western 71-53. #6 Lady Monsters improve to 7-0 in the ACCAC and 12-0 overall. They will have a little time off before traveling to the Southern Nevada Tournament December 28-29th.

Men defeated Arizona Western 96-80. Monsters improve to 3-4 in the ACCAC and 7-6 overall. They are off until hosting the EAC Classic January 2-3rd.

Both teams return to conference play January 7th at Scottsdale.

Women’s basketball travelled to LA, California over the weekend and won the Brahma Classic. They defeated LA Pierce CC 95-43 and LA Trade Tech 97-59 for the title. CC Chiamaka was named MVP of the classic. Lady Monsters improve to 4-0 in the ACCAC and 9-0 overall.

Men travelled to Yuma over the weekend to play in the AWC Thanksgiving Tournament. They defeated Salish Kootenai College 99-75 and lost to #15 Seward County (KS) CC 71-77. Monsters are 2-2 in the ACCAC and 5-4 overall.

Both teams travel to Douglas on Wednesday to play Cochise College.

Freshman Jaraan Lands was named ACCAC Player of the Week after helping the Eastern Arizona Gila Monster’s to two big wins in conference play. Jaraan averaged over 25 points per game and more than 7 rebounds in each game. Jaraan also shot the ball extremely well from all over the court in this two game span (65% FG, 60% 3PT, and 82% from the foul line).

Congratulations to Jazmin Horne as she was named recently DI Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Horne scored 26 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 2 assists and had a steal in the Gila Monsters' win over Tohono O'Odham.

Women’s basketball defeated #5 Central Arizona tonight 70-61. Lady Monsters improve to 4-0 in the ACCAC and 7-0 overall. They travel to Los Angeles this week for the LA Pierce Tournament Friday and Saturday.

Men lost 63-81 to Central Arizona. Monsters fall to 2-2 in the ACCAC and 4-3 overall. They travel to Yuma this weekend for the AWC Thanksgiving Tournament.

Men defeated Chandler-Gilbert 107-96 in overtime. Monsters improve to 2-1 in the ACCAC and 5-2 overall.

Both teams are home on Tuesday as Central Arizona comes to Thatcher. Women play at 5:30pm and men follow at 7:30pm.

Men defeated Glendale 72-71. Men improve to 1-1 in the ACCAC and 4-2 overall.

Women’s basketball player CC Chiamaka was recently named ACCAC DI Player of the Week. The Lady Monsters were 3-0 that week with wins over South Plains College, Midland College, and #10 Salt Lake CC. Chiamaka scored 34 points, grabbed 28 rebounds, had 6 steals, and shot 50% from the floor.

Women and men resume conference play on Wednesday traveling to Glendale.

Men’s Basketball lost to #18 Howard College in day two of the Gila Monster Invitational. Score was 77-94. Monsters fall to 3-2.

Women’s Basketball picked up a big win tonight as they defeated visiting 10th ranked Salt Lake City CC 73-69. Lady Monsters improve to 3-0 and open up conference play on Tuesday at Tohono O’Odham.

Football defeated New Mexico Military Institute 24-13 to end the season. Monsters finish 4-4 in the WSFL and 6-5 overall.

Lady Monsters are back on the road Wednesday as they play at #4 Arizona Western.

#9 Softball split a doubleheader with Arizona Western, 15-1 and 7-9. Lady Monsters finish the regular season at 37-7 in the ACCAC and 43-9 overall. They play in the Region I Tournament May 9-10 in Yuma. Winner advances to the NJCAA Tournament in St George, UT.

Tennis finished the first round of the National Tournament today in Tyler, TX. #1 Patricia Husakova, #2 Pauline Chawafambira, #3 Mckenna Nelson, and #4 Loni Karras won their first round matches. #5 Kindra Holliday and #6 Sally Stover lost. #1 Doubles Husakova/Chawafambira won while #2 Doubles Karras/Nelson lost and #3 Doubles Holliday/Stover had a bye. Play continues Monday.
