Monsters Top Central
Coolidge, AZ --
The Eastern Arizona College basketball team picked up another ACCAC road win Saturday night when they defeated Central Arizona 81-66.
EAC began slowly and trailed for nearly twelve minutes before they were able to tie the score at 25 all. At that point the Gila Monster defense finally showed up and held Central to only nine points the rest of the half while pouring in 22 to take a 47-34 lead to the break. Eastern pushed the lead to as many as 17 with nine minutes to play. Though they could not stretch the lead out any further it was never cut to fewer than nine.
Thirty nine of Eastern's 81 points came from their bench as they were led in scoring by freshman forward Vladimir Bulut's 20 points. Bulut connected on 6 of 8 three point attempts and grabbed a team high seven rebounds. Three other Gila Monsters were in double figures on the night led by Jordan Jamestown who scored a career high 17, Skylar Whitfield came off the bench to add 12, and Marcus Palmer chipped in with 11. Eastern received another solid performance from freshman point guard Dontae Bryant who came in and scored seven points, grabbed five rebounds, and passed out four assists.
