Monsters Hold Off Cochise

The Eastern Arizona College basketball team won another tight ACCAC game Wednesday night when they defeated Cochise 64-59 in Thatcher.
The first half was close throughout with both teams exchanging leads but neither team was able to push ahead by more than five points. At the break the game was tied at 29 all. The second half began with EAC taking control and by the ten minute mark led 46-37. Cochise then went on a 13-2 run over the next four minutes to regain the lead at 50-48. Eastern's defense then rose to the challenge and held the high powered Cochise offense to only six point the rest of the way. Two big baskets by Gabor Boros and free throws by Marcus Palmer and freshman guard Dontae Bryant were the difference down the stretch on offense.
Eastern was led in scoring by Boros who scored 17 followed by Palmer with 15. Regan Andersen and Vladimir Bulut each chipped in with nine. Andersen led the team with seven rebounds. On the night EAC out rebounded Cochise by nine and limited them to only one offensive rebound.
EAC (7-2, 3-0) will travel to Central Arizona on Saturday for another ACCAC tilt. Game time is set for 7:30 MST. The game will not be broadcast but both home games next week will be as the Gila Monsters wind down the fall semester vs. Scottsdale and Phoenix.
