Monsters Win on the Road

The Eastern Arizona College basketball team traveled to Mesa Saturday night and came away with a hard fought 73-70 victory.
The first half was close throughout with both teams exchanging leads but neither team able to stretch the margin to more than five points. EAC made a late surge to end the half and took a 39-36 lead into the locker room. The start of the second half saw Eastern push the lead to nine within the first few minutes. Though the Monsters could not increase their lead from there they were able to hold off every Mesa run and they never relinquished the lead. The margin shrank to as few as one on a several occasions, the last of which coming with 2 seconds left but two free throws by Marcus Palmer sealed the win for Eastern.
Eastern was led again by their three sophomore starters. Forward Marcus Palmer scored a career high 34 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Gabor Boros scored 13 while handing out 5 assists and Jordan Jamestown chipped in with nine points, seven rebounds, five assists, and 2 steals. Again, the Gila Monster defense came up big holding Mesa to only 34% shooting in the second half and only 40% for the game.
