Eastern Back on Track With Win

Eastern Arizona College took a commanding lead early in the first half and never looked back, defeating Yavapai College at Guitteau Gymnasium 92-75.
In a game that saw 40 fouls between the two teams, the Gila Monsters (8-8 overall, 2-6 ACCAC) came away victorious behind Dazmond Starke’s game highs of 27 points and 12 rebounds. Starke finished the evening 13-19 from the floor in 34 minutes.
While Starke was the post presence EAC needed, Mike James was the catalyst on the perimeter, getting his own points but involving his teammates, as well. James finished with 20 points and 12 assists. He was 6-11 from the field and 7-8 from the free throw line in 37 minutes.
Donald Johnson helped compliment Starke in the paint with 13 points and eight rebounds while Mario Gill and Chris Pruitt also scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.
The Roughriders were led by Matt Coakley with 23 points.
Next up for the Monsters is Chandler-Gilbert at home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. while Yavapai (4-12, 1-7) travels to Pima.
