Monster Comeback Comes up Short
Tucson, AZ --
Eastern Arizona College turned the ball over 23 times, almost double that of its opponent, and fell 91-89 to Pima on the road Saturday night. The Monsters trailed by just three points at the break, but watched Pima’s Dominique Keeton hit four three-pointers in the second half to help the Aztecs to the win.
Eastern Arizona College received much of its offensive production from inside as Dazmond Starke had a game-high 33 points on 15-17 shooting and 15 rebounds. Donald Johnson, the Monsters’ other post presence, finished with 23 points, a game-high 19 rebounds, and two blocks.
Eastern Arizona College cut the Aztec lead to two points with one minute to play but Keeton hit a jump shot from the left corner to put the game out of reach. The Monster’s Mike James hit a lay-up at the final buzzer for the final margin.
The Aztecs (4-5 overall, 1-3 ACCAC) were led by Terrence Hill with 24 points and Keeton with 22.
Pima next plays at Scottsdale on Wednesday while Eastern Arizona College (4-6, 0-4) travels to Cochise for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
