Monsters Back on Track
Thatcher, AZ --
January 16, Men's Basketball
The Eastern Arizona College basketball team returned home Wednesday night and regained their winning ways as they defeated Glendale 60-46.
EAC dug a big hole to start the game as Glendale jumped to a 10-2 advantage five minutes in. Eastern scored the next 11 points to take a lead they would never relinquish. At the break EAC held a slim 25-20 lead which jumped to double figures within the first three minutes of the second half and stayed there for the rest of the night. The largest Gila Monster margin was 16 at 44-28 at the midway point of the second half and Eastern held on from there.
EAC had three players in double figures on the night all scoring ten points apiece. Will Bynum, Chop Tang, and Nikola Kecman had that honor with Markhuri Sanders-Frison chipping in with eight points and eight rebounds. Eastern received a huge first half performance from seldom used reserve Clay Edwin. Edwin played the final nine minutes of the half scoring six points, had two steals and took a charge giving the Monsters a much needed lift.
EAC (15-2, 8-1) will travel to Yavapai on Saturday before returning home next Wednesday to face Pima. Game time is set for 7:30 MST and all of the action can be heard live via the internet at www.swsn.net.
