The Eastern Arizona College basketball team the home portion of their 2007 schedule in fine fashion Saturday night when they defeated Central Arizona 82-66.
EAC's offense got off to a slow start as they trailed 11-6 eight minutes into the game. The Gila Monsters caught up and took the lead at 16-14 and never trailed. After holding a slim 28-21 lead at the break, EAC quickly bumped the lead to double figures and had it to 16 with twelve minutes to go when Eastern was whistled for a questionable foul followed by two even more questionable technical fouls. After CAC converted all six free throws the lead hovered around ten until a late surge put the game out of reach for EAC.
Eastern again had a balanced scoring attack with five players in double figures. Saturday's leader was Jonathan Scott with 16 points off the bench. Will Bynum added 12, Nikola Kecman and Vladimir Bulut each had 11 and Dontae Bryant chipped in with ten points to go along with his ten assists.
EAC (9-1, 4-0) will be off until Friday when they travel to face Phoenix College followed by their last game of 2007 when they travel to Scottsdale on the 18th. Game time for both is set for 7:30 MST and all of the action can be heard live via the internet at www.swsn.net.
