Game Recap

Monsters Topple Clark College

Thatcher, AZ --

The second and final night of the EAC Thanksgiving Classic began with Arizona Western rolling to a 97-61 victory over Grand Canyon JV. After a sluggish start, AWC took control late in the first half behind four straight three pointers by Alonzo Brandon to take a 54-29 lead at the break. The game was never in doubt after that. Brandon was the leading scoring for Western with 23 and Sean Imadiyi added 17.

The nightcap saw host Eastern Arizona College also struggle early but still come away with an 86-64 victory over Clark College. EAC scored the games first 11 points before Clark got on the board. Clark actually came all the way back and took a brief two point lead before EAC went into halftime ahead 37-35. The second half however was all Gila Monsters. A 22-5 run to begin the final twenty minutes put EAC in control and they were never threatened again, building the lead to as many as 26 late in the contest.

Eastern was led in scoring by Chop Tang's game high 23 points. Dontae Bryant and Markhuri Sanders-Frison each scored 13 and NIkola Kecman added 12. Bryant, the sophomore point guard from Portland, actually posted a triple-double on the night. In addition to his 13 points he also had ten rebounds and ten assists.

EAC ends the pre-conference portion of their schedule at 5-1 with their only loss being the two point loss on the road vs. 16th ranked South Plains College. Eastern begins ACCAC conference play this week when they travel to Chandler-Gilbert College on Wednesday night. The defending Conference Champions return home on Saturday when they host Mesa. Game time for both is set for 7:30 MST and all the action can be heard live via the internet at www.swsn.net.
