Last Second Finish Helps Propel Eastern

Eastern Arizona menís basketball had their most exciting finish to a game this season in Wednesday nightís 72-71 victory at Glendale. Trailing by one with 12 seconds remaining in the game Brad Newman Jr. drove the length of the court to score the game winning basket to give the Gila Monsters their first conference win of the season.
EAC (4-2, 1-1) was led by a phenomenal performance by Jaraan Lands, scoring 23 points on 6 for 7 shooting including 11 for 11 from the free throw line. Brad Newman Jr. and Reggie Oliver also finished in double digit scoring for the night (11 points each). Guards Vonte Carter and Aubrey Stephens each contributed with 6 big rebounds of their own to help put away Glendale. Despite the last second dramatics, the Gila Monsters were able to seal the game at the foul line, shooting 87 percent on the night (20-23).
The Gila Monsters look to build on their momentum Saturday night at home when they take on conference opponent Chandler Gilbert at 7:30pm (MST).
