Monsters Win Come From Behind Thriller
Thatcher, AZ --
With just over 10 seconds left and trailing by two, Dom Hunter connected from long range on what would be the game winning shot on a drive and kick from D'Juan Miller. That three gave EAC the lead 62-61 over Arizona Western after trailing by as many as 9 points late in the second half. Miller led the Monsters throughout the night and finished with 20 points and 7 assists.
A dunk and a huge block with under 2 minutes remaining by Jeremiah Harris allowed the Monsters to draw within 4. Miller then hit a jumper and followed that up with the game winning assist to Hunter to cap a great comeback. The Gila Monsters held AWC scoreless for the final 3 minutes of the game.
Hunter finished the game with 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals, and Taylor Stafford added 10 points and 6 rebounds.
The win improves EAC to 15-8 overall and 9-6 in ACCAC play. The Monsters take the court again in Thatcher this Saturday in a big conference match-up versus Glendale. Come out and support or follow along online!
