Monsters Fall to Western

The Eastern Arizona College basketball team dropped a heart breaker at home Saturday night as they fell to Arizona Western 60-58.
The teams traded small leads for most of the first half and ended tied at 26 all. The second half saw Western push to a six point advantage eight minutes in at 38-32 only to see EAC tie the game again at 40 apiece. EAC took a brief lead at 44-43 but it was their only one of the second half. With two minutes remaining Eastern trailed 56-50 but the rallied and had a chance to tie the game with 16 seconds left but missed the second of two free throws. AWC then missed the second of two at the other end giving Eastern the ball back with 12 seconds left trailing 60-58. EAC got a good look at the basket but Jordan Jamestown's layup rimmed out at the buzzer.
EAC placed two players in double figures led by Marcus Palmer's 21 points. Vladimir Bulut added 14. Palmer led the team with 10 rebounds and Gabor Boros had a team high five assists despite being held scoreless on the night.
