Monsters Stifle South Mountain

After a four week layoff from conference play the Eastern Arizona College basketball team picked up where they left off registering an impressive 72-47 victory over visiting South Mountain.
EAC began slowly falling behind 13-6 early on. The Gila Monsters gradually climbed back into the game and took their first and last lead of the game at 21-19 on a three pointer by Gabor Boros. Eastern pushed the lead to as many as eight before going into half time ahead 32-27. Five minutes into the second half Eastern led 38-35 but then outscored South 34-12 the rest of the way for the win.
Eastern placed three players in double figures led by Marcus Palmer's 18 points. Vladimir Bulut scored 17 on 5 of 8 shooting from three and Will Bynum chipped in with 12. Gabor Boros led the team with eight assists to go along with his eight points. Again the story of the night was the Monster defense which held South to 31% shooting from the field and 11% from three in route to holding them to 31 points below their season average.
EAC (11-3, 6-1) will face a tough week as they travel to face 8th ranked Arizona Western on Monday night and then to Glendale on Wednesday before returning home on Saturday to face Yavapai.
